MOCD Meets with Non-Benefit Public Associations & Lauds their Contributions to UAE competitiveness.

 Development Achievements

Hessa Tahlak emphasized that the open dialogue between the Ministry of Community Development with the non-benefit public associations reflects the contributions of these entities across all sectors, aiming to improve and develop their services to the UAE community. She noted that the support and efforts of non-benefit public associations and societies are equally important as those provided by the government and private sectors at all social, economic, professional, cultural, and humanitarian levels.

 

Excellency Hessa Tahlak added that the role of non-benefit public associations is becoming increasingly important with the development and growth of the UAE, and its excellence and competitiveness in all sectors. The contributions and achievements of these entities during the past few years have greatly affected the UAE's competitiveness, which ranked 10th in the "Global Soft Power Index 2024" participated by 193 countries, as well as its removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, after the great progress it has made in the field of combating money laundering and financing terrorism. The UAE also attracted many international conferences and events for the first time in the Middle East, which had a great economic impact, leading to strengthening the global position of the UAE in various sectors.

 

Enormous Efforts

Mohammed Naqi, Director of Non-Benefit Public Associations Department at the Ministry of Community Development reviewed the most important features of Federal Decree Law No. (50) of 2023 concerning the organization of non-benefit public associations and amendments with the aim of developing its articles; members of the non-benefit public associations held several meetings during the last period to identify their observations and poll their opinions on the development of the articles of the law, stressing that it meets their aspirations greatly, and that the coming period will feature several meetings with various entity in the UAE to raise awareness and review the new items and articles before its enforcement at the beginning of next May.

 

Naqi reviewed the most prominent amendments to the decree law, which relate to the objectives of its issuance, including strengthening the UAE's efforts in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing, coordinating and integrating roles between the ministry and competent local authorities, unifying procedures for establishing these associations, providing a central database on the activities they practice, highlighting the most important membership procedures, establishment conditions, obligations and prohibitions that the associations must adhere to.

 

Meanwhile the Ministry of Community Development signed an MOU with (18) charitable associations and societies in the UAE to support low-income families, develop the charitable and humanitarian work system in the UAE in general, exchange data and exchange and provide e-link to support applicants. The Ministry also collaborates with associations and charitable societies as vital partners in social development, showcasing their prominent and active role and significant efforts embodying the values of social solidarity and cooperation.
